Leaders

Julius Caesar was one of the many Roman rulers, but arguably, he was one of the leaders who had the most influence on the Roman Empire. Julius was a renowned general, as well as a politician and scholar. He is known for conquering the vast region of Gaul, as well as bringing an end to the Roman Republic. Despite his achievements, military power, and popularity with Rome's people, his opponents assassinated him in 44 BC, due to them being threatened by both his power and influence.

Despite Julius' assination, that wasn't the end of the Caesar bloodline - he had a great-nephew, who he later adopted, that was named Augustus. He was the first Roman emperor, despite never claiming the title for himself. He used his military might, institution-building, and lawmaking to lead Rome's transformation from a republic to an empire afer the assassination of his great uncle.
